Burns Blazes Through Competition at VFC

Kevin “Fire” Burns (5-1) expected an all out blood-bath against Bobby Voelker (13-3) at May 9th’s Victory Fighting Championships in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Luckily, Burns escaped the cage unscathed in less than a minute with a brutal KO that left Voelker wobbly even after exiting the cage. Burns, known for his ground game, had not had a TKO since 2006 against the always exciting Demi Deeds. This leaves us with two questions. Where does Burns stand now? And who will he face next?

OFFICIAL: Chuck Grigsby signs with WEC

Another Iowan has apparently sparked interest in Zuffa’s big-wigs. Chuck “The Reverend” Grigsby (13-3) and a member of Team Revolution from Des Moines, IA has signed a 5 fight contract with the WEC. His first fight will be June 1st at the Arco Arena in California against NCAA wrestling champion Mark Munoz (2-0). The card is being headlined by none other than the WEC champ Urijah Faber and the Quad Cities own – “Lil’ Evil” Jens Pulver.

Grigsby is on a tear right now winning his last eight fights. All eight of the fights have stayed clear of the judges, most ending by stoppage due to strikes. Grigsby is heavy-handed and always looking for the KO. “The Reverend” also holds light-heavyweight belts for the Midwest Cage Championship and Victory Fighting Championship.

VFC returns to Mid-America Center in May

Victory Jay continues to do what he does best. His last show sent the uber-tough Ryan Roberts to UFC Fight Night 13. Previous shows sent Chad Reiner, Ryan Jensen, Spencer Fisher and many more to the big show.

May 9th will showcase two exciting, well-known fighters from the Midwest. Bobby Voelker (13-3) is set to face Kevin “Fire” Burns (4-1) as the nights main event. Both fighters have faced some of the best competition around; will we see another Midwesterner get a chance in the Octagon?
