Tickets for UFC 87 will be on sale Sunday, May 25th at 12:00pm CST. The prices range from next to nothin’ at $50.00 to an entire paycheck at $600.00.

Initially, it was thought that UFC Hall-of-Famer Mark “The Hammer” Coleman would be headlining the show against uber-tough Brock Lesnar. Rumors on the net hint that this will not be the main event and something even bigger will instead fill the slot. Kenny “Ken-Flo” Florian, who has been on a tear as of late, will take on a Minnesota native in Roger “El Matador” Huerta in a battle that some are calling fight of the year.

Other bouts not confirmed by the UFC are Cheick Kongo vs Dan Evensen, Luke Cummo vs Tamdan McCrory, Damien Maia vs Jason MacDonald and George Sotiropolous is rumored to be on the card as well.

The UFC is planning on venturing out as much as possible into not only new states, but new countries. Australia, The Philippines and Mexico are future locations. Atlanta Georgia will likely host UFC 88 in September. After speaking with Mr. J. Walsh of the Iowa Athletic Commission, he stated nothing has been brought to his attention as of yet, but said that he welcomes the idea of the UFC coming in the future.

Personally, I’ve been on both sides of the country for the UFC. There is nothing I’d like better than to have it in my own back yard. Wells Fargo Arena, make some calls!

***UPDATE*** Clay “The Carpenter” Guida has been rumored to be fighting Frankie “The Answer” Edgar at this show as well.

I’m still a little confused on the result of this one. Originally declared a no contest because of an illegal scratch or thumb to the eye. Then the call was reversed and Christenson did get the win. I was unable to get clarification except for the fact that Christenson won.

Des Moines, IA- March 21, 2008- Victor “Superman” Moreno, former Midwest Cage Championship (MCC) welterweight champion, returns to the cage to settle a grudge match with local up and comer Ben Crowder on Friday, April 25. Moreno has faced some of the toughest competitors across the country during his five year pro career.” I’m more excited about this bout than anything and anyone I’ve faced throughout my career.” stated a confident Moreno. Crowder, a well known and tough competitor, has a reputation for his heavy hands and ” I’ll take on anyone, anytime” attitude. He’s looks to boost that reputation with a big win over “Superman”. Both fighters have pledged this fight will not go the distance and there is bound to be plenty of fireworks with an unfortunate ending for one of these warriors.

In the featherweight division, undeniably one of the most exciting weight classes in mixed martial arts today, Will Shutt lost his title to Josh Atwell during the previous MCC 12 event in one of the most exciting fights ever witnessed by an Iowa crowd. This time, MCC delivers a four man featherweight tournament where the winner will face new champion Josh Atwell in a future bout. Nick Walker, Brad Floyd, TJ O’Brien and Will Shut will battle in back and forth, non-stop bouts that will determine the contender to the belt. MCC picked a favorite category and doubled the action. This tournament alone is worth the price of admission.

In the Lightweight category, MCC Champion Ted “Red” Worthington had been scheduled for a title defense bout with number one contended Bryce Teager. That match-up has been moved to MCC 14, with a date being announced soon. Midwest Cage Championship sends best wishes to Bryce and his wife as they prepare to welcome their second child into the world. We know everyone is excited to witness Teager vs. Worthington, and please stay tuned for details. Worthington, vowing to remain active right up to the Teager bout, will fight in a non-title welterweight bout at MCC13. “Teddy goes 110% and 100 miles an hour every time he enters the cage. We’re always happy to have him in the promotion.” offered John Halverson, MCC partner and one of the
MCC13 matchmakers.

Additionally, rising star Paul Bird, owning a win over Nick Walker in MCC 12, is quickly working his way toward the top of the fight game. Relentless training and fierce competition fuels his fire as his
improved skills are put to the test. Bird, known as the “Gingerbread Man” is one of the most exciting fighters in the lightweight division and holds the dream of competing in the UFC in his mind at all times. Bird is the complete game. His precision striking combined with dangerous submissions create huge challenges for competitors and total excitement for fans. MMC 13 works to push his dream closer to reality. Bird is clearly a fighter with his eyes on the prize, and all eyes in the crowd upon him.

Midwest Cage Championship is held on Friday, April 25 at the
95KGGO/Bucs Arena at 7201 Hickman Road, Urbandale, IA. Doors open at
6:30 PM. Fights start at 7:30 PM.

Tickets can be purchased at the Bucs Arena box office, by calling
(515) 278-9757, and on-line at www.midwestcagechampionship.com
