TORONTO - For the sixth-consecutive time, UFC champion Georges St-Pierre successfully defended the promotion's welterweight title.
However, for the fifth time in his past six fights, "Rush" was unable to secure a finish as challenger Jake Shields lasted 25 minutes with the champ in a moderately-paced affair light on any real action.
The bout served as the featured contest of Saturday night's historic UFC
129 pay-per-view event, which took place at Toronto's Rogers Centre.

TORONTO - Rebounding from a disappointing last-second loss to Carlos
Condit this past June, 21-year-old Rory MacDonald used pinpoint striking
and a handful of powerful slams to earn a unanimous-decision win over
the always-game Nate Diaz in a contest you'd be hard-pressed to call
anything but a complete whitewash
The fight served as the featured contest of Saturday night's seven-bout
UFC 129 preliminary card, which took place at Toronto's Rogers Centre
and aired on Spike TV and Facebook.com.
The action preceded the evening's historic pay-per-view event.

TORONTO - With the UFC Fan Expo grappling superfight tourney title on
the line, there would be no last-second heroics for Diego Sanchez.
One day after pulling a come-from-behind submission win over Andrew
McInnes, Sanchez was stymied by Abu Dhabi Comabt Club Submission
Wrestling World Championship medalist Ryan Hall, who defeated "Dream" on
points, 6-2.
Hall, who submitted Jorge Britto to earn his spot in the finals, claimed
back control in the final minute of the fight to break a 2-2 deadlock,
though he was unable to secure a match-ending rear-naked choke.

Just a programming reminder for those accustomed to the UFC PPV's starting at 10pm ET, things have changed for UFC 129 as it will begin at 9pm ET instead to accommodate fans on the east coast who would normally have to stay up until nearly 1am to catch the whole card.<Br><Br>
UFC President Dana White spoke about the time following the UFC 129 weigh in:
"The whole time-move thing scares the s--- out of me," White said. "It's the right thing to do, and it's what the fans want, but for 10 years we've been at the same time. You become accustomed to it."<Br><Br>
"It's the most dangerous thing we've ever done. It's scary as hell for me."<br><Br>

TORONTO - All seven UFC champs were on hand for a special "Super 7"
Q&A session at UFC Fan Expo Toronto, but it was Jon Jones who almost
stole the show.
But he had an advantage; Georges St-Pierre ducked out early.
The light-heavyweight champion shed some new light on his beef with
former teammate Rashad Evans, whom he was supposed to fight before an
injury put his first title defense on hold.
